The Conference on Linear PDE’s
celebrating José Ruidival do Santos Filho’s career will take place on February 01 and 02, 2024, in São Carlos, Brazil.
The talks will revolve around Ruidival’s contributions to the field of the qualitative theory of Partial Differential Equations and its interactions.
To register, please visit the Registration page, where you also can submit a proposal for our poster session. The deadline for poster submissions is January 15, 2024.

A bit of history
José Ruidival dos Santos Filho is one of the most important professors and researchers in the group of Linear PDEs at the Department of Mathematics of UFSCar – Federal University of São Carlos. He completed his PhD at MIT – Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1979, under the supervision of Victor Guillemin, where he also began his career as a professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) in the same year.
In 1998, Ruidival moved to São Carlos to join the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). Although he formally retired in 2023, his research and supervision remains as strong as ever. His arrival at the Department of Mathematics at UFSCar helped to consolidate the postgraduate program at the level of excellence, whose doctoral program was created one year earlier.
His service to Brazilian mathematics is also deeply felt through his training of young mathematicians, having supervised 17 MSc students, 8 PhDs, and post-docs.
