Resumo: Let \(M\) be a 3-dimensional, compact Riemannian manifold. We will explain how Hodge theory in a currential set-up can be used in order to produce universal forms on \(M\times M\) that allow the computation of the linking number of any two knots in \(M\). The same procedure can be used in \(\mathbb{R}^n \ \ \ \ \ \), in order to recover the well-known formulas of Gauss. This is based on a joint article with Luciano Mari.
