Resumo: We discuss a principal trace formula associated with Dirac-Schrödinger operators in Euclidean space, which is a generalization of a celebrated formula by C. Callias. We show that the trace formula allows us to find a regularized index formula even if the Dirac-Schrödinger operator fails to be Fredholm. Finally we will consider the regularized index and its density in the context of spectral shift functions, an object stemming classically from scattering theory. If time permits we will discuss some examples, showcasing the difference in behavior compared with the usual Fredholm index.
